The Roommate, Which Could Have Been A Lifetime Movie

Over the weekend, I went to the movie, The Roommate. I’m not a huge fan of thriller type movies, because I don’t really enjoy having something pop up on you on the screen, and you know it’s coming because of the music they are playing. But this movie was more comical than scary.

The movie is about a girl named Sarah that goes away to College and ends up having the wrong roommate, Rebecca. Rebecca makes it clear that she will not go by any other name besides Rebecca. For some reason Rebecca has this crush on her roommate and wants to be Sarah’s sister. One girl has a belly ring, and she ditched Sarah at a party so Rebecca goes into the bathroom where she is taking a shower turns off the lights and knocks her on the ground and yanks her belly ring out. That’s the most disturbing and scaryish thing in the movie.

Sarah brings home a kitty cat and they name the cat Snuggles. One night Sarah doesn’t come home and Rebecca isn’t getting enough attention or something and kills the cat.
Then to get more attention Rebecca beats herself up…kind of like Michelle Money (from the Bachelor). She proceeds to tell her that she went out to find Snuggles and some people beat her up.

The movie has so many random things in it, I actually laughed almost all they way through the movie. I won’t spill the beans on the whole movie, but if you are looking for a good laugh and lifetime-ish movie on a bigger screen, you should go see it (especially if you are in a silly mood).

For the storyline and random weird events, wishing for more character development  (reasons why Rebecca was the way she was), or random things in the movie that I would take out...like a scene of the sprinklers coming on. I give the movie a C-
BUT if you go into the movie thinking its a Lifetime Movie, and needed to laugh, and would like to see one on a big screen…I give it a B-.

I think the movie would have done better and got decent ratings if they just would have made this movie a Lifetime Movie for anyone who wanted to see the movie.
