Life Is Unexpected

One of my favorite shows right now on the CW, (along with many others) is Life Unexpected. Starring Kerr Smith as Ryan, Shiri Appleby as Cate, Kristoffer Polaha as Nate or better known as Baze, and Brittany Robertson as Lux.

Life Unexpected is currently in their second season, which to me is so much better than the first season. The show is about a mom (Cate) who got pregnant in high school and she gave her daughter up for adoption, and never told (Baze) the father of the baby. Cate thought her daughter would be adopted. Lux (the daughter) comes back into her parents lives at the age of 16 wanting her real parents to sign papers for her to be awarded emancipation, instead Cate and Baze were given costody of her. Her parents find out that Lux has lived a life of foster care, and she has lived a pretty messed up life.

According to TVSQUAD the numbers are down from season one. CW isn't going to be making the final decision about the show until May 2011. To me this is very interesting because the second season is so much better than the first.

For example: Baze is doing something with his life besides bar tending, Lux is dating a teacher, Cate and Ryan seem to be working on their relationship that crumbled and putting the pieces back, Baze has a girlfriend that he works with at his father's company; and we just found out Baze's dad has slept with Baze's girlfriend...THE SCANDAL! Lux has a brain problem from a Foster Care Dad who threw her down the stairs, and so much more.

Season 2 is definitely more dramatic and so much more interesting than the first, so this surprises me that the ratings are so low. To me 1.5 Million viewers isn't low, but I don't know much about the whole rating thing. Its always a bummer when one of your favorite shows is going to be cancelled or is cancelled.

Life Unexpected will have their two hour season finale on January 18 on the CW. Make sure you watch it! TVSQUAD also said not to plan on the whole series being wrapped up the way the fans might want it to be, but will do their best. I just found this article on TVSQUAD that on April 5 the complete series will be released on DVD, so I wouldn't plan on a return of this series.

I'd like TV ratings to somehow be able to rate all those people who DVR or TIVO their shows. I do that with almost all of my shows, and think ratings would be a lot larger for all shows, and maybe our favorites shows wont be cancelled so early.

Each season is about 13 or so episodes so there is definitely time to watch the whole series before January 18th on the CW. Whether its a goner or a miracle comeback, lets send it out with a BANG!

I am very sad this show is going to be cancelled. I agree that this season is way better than the last season. So everyone watch the season finale. :)
